Good morning my fellow Winnipeggers!
I received the following notification from the City of Winnipeg regarding a residential parking ban that starts TODAY to allow for the non-snow route side streets to be cleared of accumulated and packed snow. Make sure you Know Your Zone as they say!
Residential Parking Ban in effect starting Thursday, January 7 at 7 a.m.
Motorists urged to park elsewhere when a residential street is scheduled for snow clearing; residents encouraged to Know Your Zone
Plowing of residential streets will begin Thursday morning to improve the overall condition of residential streets. As a result, a Residential Parking Ban has been declared and will be in effect starting Thursday, January 7 at 7 a.m.
Residents are urged to confirm their snow zone letter to determine when their residential street is scheduled for clearing.
You can find your snow zone with the online address lookup tool, by using the Know Your Zone app, or by contacting 311. Residents are encouraged to know their snow zone letter well in advance of the start of the residential plow and to make alternate parking arrangements if they park on the street.
Starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, residents in snow zones D, G, H, P, S will need to move their vehicles as plowing will be underway in those zones until 7 p.m. Thursday. Please refer to the entire schedule below for details about when snow zones will be cleared this week.

If a residential street was not cleared as scheduled, it will be cleared after plowing has been completed city-wide. Residents are advised to contact 311 following the completion of the residential plowing operation to report a missed street. Residents can also see crews progress by viewing our snow clearing status map.
When a residential street is scheduled for snow clearing, residents are urged to find an alternate place to park such as an off-street driveway or parking lot, or a nearby street that has already been cleared. This will help the plowing operation run smoothly and will prevent you from being ticketed and towed.
Vehicles parked in violation of the Residential Parking Ban may receive a $150 ticket ($112.50 if paid early), and may be towed to a nearby street that is not scheduled to be plowed, or has already been cleared. If you believe your vehicle may have been towed due to the Residential Parking Ban, please contact 311 for assistance in locating it.
Approximately 300 pieces of heavy equipment will be used for this snow clearing operation; motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near heavy equipment working.
